The World Bank launched a very powerful tool for finding and displaying all of their global projects. Not only is the interface itself very well-designed, but the data that is driving the site is incredibly robust, allowing users from all over the world to visualize exactly what types of projects are happening in their country.
The World Bank has also opened the dataset, allowing for mashups with other provider agencies. Soren Gigler, who oversaw the Mapping for Results project for notes that “Development is led by experts. Once the general public gets access to what we are doing, we strongly believe as more people get involved that what we do will be done better.”
